Amboseli National Park is located in Southern Kenya near the border with Tanzania. If having an up-close and personal viewing of elephants is on your bucket list, Amboseli is among the best places to do that.

Amboseli's dry savannah makes it easier to spot wildlife such as elephants, leopards, lions, giraffes and around 600 bird species. Amboseli has a beautiful backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro whose snow peaks can easily be seen to contrast with the vast green savannah.

When To Visit

You can visit Amboseli at any time of the year. The dry summer months of June to September are the most favourable for most visitors because many animals are usually congregated around water bodies.

Getting There

Getting to Amboseli is very easy. Nairobi is located about 230 kilometres from Amboseli National Park. This means that your drive from Nairobi to Amboseli will take less than 3 hours.

Amboseli can also be accessed by air using a local chartered flight from Nairobi or any other part of Kenya. Regional flights from Uganda and Tanzania can also be arranged to drop you off directly in Amboseli.

You will find enough accommodation options for Amboseli National Park. There are luxury safari lodges as well as mid-range and budget options. If you love camping, many of the lodges provide various camping options as well.
