Lamu Archipelago is a string of 7 islands located in the Indian Ocean close to Kenya's northern coast. The Lamu Archipelago is part of Kenya's Coastal Province.

Lamu Town on Lamu Island is the oldest town in Kenya and dates back to the 1400s.

When To Visit

You can visit Lamu Archipelago at any time of the year but the best time is between January and March when there is no likeliness of rain. Another really good time is from August to December when there is a minimal likeliness of rain.

The temperatures are lovely throughout the year and average at around 24.3 degrees Celcius (75.7 F).

Getting There.

It is easy to get to the Islands of the Lamu archipelago. The easiest and most common means is by flying directly from Nairobi's Wilson Airport. The flight from Nairobi to Lamu would take about 1 hour.

To move around the various Islands and beaches, boats are used.
