Waterberg Plateau National Park, Namibia

Waterberg Plateau National Park is located in Central Namibia on the Waterberg Plateau. The park rises high above the plains of the Kalahari and is dominated by the prominent table mountain, the Waterberg (Water Mountain).

Declared a national reserve in 1972, Waterberg Plateau National Park was created to protect Namibia's endangered species from predators and poaching. The program is very successful and now Waterberg supplies other parks in Namibia with rare animals from rhinos to giraffes and more.

The cliffs that surround the Waterberg plateau make it a fortress for protecting the animals that live in the park.
