Detailed Trip Plan
Day 1: Airport Pickup at Entebbe Airport
Our safari driver/guide will be waiting at Entebbe International Airport to pick you up and then transfer you to your accommodation for the night.
Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will embark on a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The 9-hour journey will take you through the Ugandan countryside with farms, small towns, plantations, and interesting landscapes on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
There are plenty of interesting stopovers along the way including lunch in Mbarara. You will reach your lodge in the evening.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable N.P.
Today is your day to meet the mountain gorillas - our evolutionary cousins in the forest.
Gorilla trekking starts with a briefing by the UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) officials to give you a grounding about gorillas, the forests they live in, the conservation as well as the rules and guidelines you must follow on your trek.
You will then be led by experienced rangers who know the forest and your search for the gorillas will start. The gorilla trek takes you through thick rainforests and steep slopes where the trails are basic footpaths, and yet the beauty overshadows the challenge of the hike.
Once you reach the gorillas, the challenge of the hike goes out of your mind, and you are glad for every weird tree root you had to step over or hold on to as you trekked to the gorillas.
As a group, you will spend 1 hour with the gorillas, watching them go about their day with the silverback leading the family, the females taking care of the young ones as well as the young gorillas playing around with each other.
After your time with the gorillas, you will leave the forest taking with you memories that will last a lifetime. We'll then go back to the lodge for some relaxation- to let it all sink in.
The rest of the evening can be spent at leisure at the lodge, or you can go for a walk around the neighbourhood.
Day 4: Transfer back to Entebbe
After an early breakfast, your safari driver/guide will take you on a 9-hour drive from Bwindi to Kampala/Entebbe.
This journey will transition from the cool Kigezi Highlands to the rolling landscapes of Ankole and Buganda, characterized by large farms, plantations, and small towns.
You will have several stops along the way, including a photo opportunity at the equator crossing in Kayabwe.
You should arrive in Kampala by early evening, allowing time to freshen up before your flight out of Uganda. With minimal stops, you can expect to reach Entebbe in the evening.
Day 5: Transfer to the Airport and fly to Masai Mara.
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, your safari guide will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve with an Aero link.
Day 6: Wildlife Game Drives in Masai Mara National Reserve
Depending on the Wildlife migration patterns and the weather, an early morning breakfast is followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. The Masai Mara is famous for its black mane lions and the annual wildebeest migration.
This is probably one of Kenya’s most visited reserves with an extraordinary density of animals including the Big five and many other varieties of Savannah wildlife. The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti ecosystems giving life to both reserves before finally pouring out into Lake Victoria.
Impressive and most notable is the wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle instinct-led migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Mara in Kenya.
You will have a picnic lunch and continue with the game drives arriving at the lodge in the evening for a well-deserved rest and a hot relaxing shower.
Day 7: More Masai Mara wildlife game drives
After Breakfast, you will go for yet another game drive as you follow the Migration of the wildebeests across the Mara River.
Day 8: Transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi
You will be treated to an optional final early morning game drive after which you will return to the lodge for breakfast.
Embark on your journey back to Nairobi at around mid-morning. You will have a brief stopover at Narok town and later proceed to Nairobi city and to the JKIA for your flight back home.
This will mark the end of your Gorilla Trekking and Masai Mara safari holiday.
