Skeleton Coast National Park is located in northwestern Namibia. Skeleton Coast National park is well known for the inaccessible shores that are dotted with shipwrecks, rocky outcrops as well as the numbers of dead whales whose skeletons are scattered over the area.
Skeleton Coast is divided into two parts - northern and Southern. The southern part can be accessed with a 4X4 capable car while the northern part is only accessible by light aircraft.

When To Visit
Skeleton Coast National Park can be visited all year round. The recommended time is however between October and March when the nights are warmer and the fog is less.
While you won't have to worry about rainy weather, the Skeleton coast can become very cold especially in the dry winter months of May through October. The dry winters are characterized by cool winds blowing in from the Atlantic ocean.
Getting There
Skeleton Coast National Park is located 485 kilometers from Windhoek - Namibia's capital city. You can also drive the 600-kilometer journey from Etosha National park and reach Skeleton Coast National Park within 8 hours.
A domestic flight can also be organized on your behalf by a local tour operator to the various national parks.
Most visitors to Skeleton Coast prefer to drive (especially in the Southern part) because it allows them to experience the unreal landscape of the park.
