Lusaka National Park is located southeast of the city of Lusaka - Zambia's capital city. It is Zambia's smallest and newest national park and officially opened in 2015. The park was established over a previous forest reserve and is entirely enclosed by a fence.

Lusaka National Park is close to the capital city and is a great retreat from the busy city life - while being near enough to work and city life.

This small park is a great addition to a bigger tour of Zambia that includes other attractions. It is also good for people who are only in Zambia for a very short time (business) and want to see some wildlife.

On your visit to Lusaka National Park, you can enjoy any of the following activities.

  • Walking safari

When To Visit

You can visit Lusaka National Park at any time of the year. As a small park, the best wildlife experiences would be in the other large parks like Kafue and then adding this as an extra for a day or two.

Getting There

Lusaka National Park is very easy to access. The park is located around 30 kilometres southeast of Lusaka's Central Business District. The drive should take you less than 45 minutes to reach the park offices.

Where To Stay

When you are visiting Lusaka National Park, there are plenty of options for accommodation. This is because of the close proximity to the capital city where you can find a lot of hotels and lodges.

If you enjoy camping, you can also carry your tent (or a rented one) and spend the night in Lusaka National Park and camp in the wild.
