Livingstone Town, Zambia

Livingstone Town is located in Zambia's Southern Province and is named after David Livingstone, the first European to see Victoria Falls. Established in 1905, Livingstone was Zambia's first capital in the colonial period and the city still retains the charm of an old and quiet town full of history.

Its location just north of the magnificent victoria falls has turned it into Zambia's tourism capital. Rarely anyone visits Zambia and misses going to Victoria Falls, Livingstone is the adjacent town for your stay, culture, and exploration.

When To Visit

Livingstone Town can be visited at any time of the year but the best time is between the months of April and September when there is little chance of rain and the average temperature are comfortable.

Because of the hot semi-arid climate, Livingstone has hot wet seasons and big temperature fluctuations between day and night.

The average temperature in Livingstone is between 16oC (60oF) and 26oC (79oF), and the highest average temperature is around 34oC (93oF) in October.

Getting There

Getting to Livingstone is quite easy. If you are flying into Zambia directly, you can directly fly to Livingstone or to Lusaka, depending on which option works best for you.

The location near Victoria Falls means you can also fly into Victoria Falls International Airport in neighbouring Zimbabwe, and take a short drive across the border.

There are many regular flights from other parts of Africa that easily link Livingstone to the world.
