Uganda Visa Process

Uganda's visa process is quite straightforward with 2 options for going about it. You can go to the Ugandan embassy near you or you can apply online and get everything sorted that way.

1. Go To An Embassy

Depending on where you stay, it might be easy to visit the Embassy of Uganda in your country - especially if it is nearby. You have to carry the required documents and apply directly. This is an 'old school' way which can still be used for some cases or specific recommendation.

2. Apply For Visa Online

The most advisable option is to apply and pay online. As long as you have scanned copies of the required documents, you can visit the Uganda Immigration website ( https://visas.immigration.go.ug/ ) where you can apply and pay for your visa any time of day.

The process is straightforward and your visa approval takes 2 to 3 days.

East African Tourist Visa

Going through the same processes, you can also apply for the East African Tourist Visa. This East African Visa is different because it allows you to visit Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya multiple times with the same visa.

Question Answer

How long does it take to get Ugandan visa?

The Uganda eVisa typically takes up to 3 business days to process, depending on the application volume and the type of visa requested. If your application happens to be at a busy time or if additional documentation is required, it may take a bit longer but no more than 7 days.

It’s good to apply in advance of your travel dates to avoid any anxiety in case of small delays.

Can I get a Uganda visa on arrival?

Not Quite.

For a long time, Uganda's visa on arrival was another alternative way of getting your visa but this is being phased out in favour of everyone getting their visa before hand via the online eVisa application.

Visa on arrival, while good in some regards, was riddled with delays due to queues at Entebbe International Airport.

If everything is last minute, it could be a viable option - but with its shortcomings.

How do I check the progress of my Uganda visa?
