Nxai Pan National Park is located in Botswana's North West District, just north of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The formation of Nxai Pan is the same as that of the Makgadikgadi pans that were formed when the ancient lake dried up.
Nxai Pan National Park is well situated along the way for herds of migrating wildlife that move from the Okavango delta, Hwange in Zimbabwe, and Makgadikgadi for water and pasture.
Among the animals found in Nxai National park include elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, leopards, Ostriches, and more. In the wet season, most of the animals have young babies (calves and cubs) and the sight is a humbling one.
The Baines Baobabs that have remained unchanged since 1861, when they were painted by Thomas Baines are also another attraction of Nxai Pan National Park.

Getting There
Getting to Nxai Pan National Park is quite easy, despite the fact that it is quite far from Botswana's capital - Gaborone. Nxai Pan NP is located near other top destinations in Botswana such as Chobe, and also near the border with Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park.
You can enter Botswana through Maun Airport which is located about 100 kilometres west of Nxai National Park. Direct International flights to Victoria Falls International Airport also work for the people whose plan is to visit Zambia or Zimbabwe in addition to Botswana.
Domestic charter flights can also be used to move around the various parks.
Where To Stay.
Unlike the other national parks of Botswana, Nxai Pan National Park has limited options for accommodation within the park. While the park is not crowded with many visitors, you are advised to confirm your accommodation before your visit.
The Town of Maun is just 100 kilometres away and has plenty of accommodation options to match your budget and preference.
